Custom Commission Process

Commissioning custom furniture begins with a complimentary phone call and then moves through three phases.

Phase I - Inquiry

  • Initial Contact

Reach out with your project idea. Gather as much information you can concerning dimensions, wood species, and inspiration. (If you don’t know yet, that’s ok too).

  • Exploration phone call

We’ll have a complimentary phone call to discuss your project.

  • Sketch and estimate

Based on our phone call, I will email you a simple sketch and estimate for cost and timeline. If you would like to move forward there is a fee for the design phase based on the size of the project, which gets applied to the project total.

Phase II - Design

  • Design Drawings

You will be sent a set of technical drawings for approval. All our designs are drawn by hand. (Samples can be seen in our custom portfolio).

  • Iterations

We will discuss details and make appropriate changes to the design to get the design you want. At this time a cost and timeline will also be finalized.

  • Deposit

To begin building your piece of a furniture a 50% deposit is required. (The design fee is applied to the deposit.) The deposit gets you into the schedule and is a commitment to the design presented. Changes after a deposit could incur additional costs.

Phase III - Build

  • Lumber Selection

Lumber is hand selected for each project.

  • Process Updates

You will receive updates on your project at least once a week.

  • Completion

Once your project is complete, you will receive photos, and the final 50% payment is due for shipping or delivery.

  • Shipping or Delivery

Shipping and delivery are discussed on a case by case dbasis. If local to northern New Jersey I will often deliver a piece of furniture myself. For farther deliveries “white-glove” movers will blanket wrap your furniture and bring it into your home.
