Alexander Lohn founded Alessandro & Maria Design in 2019 in the hopes of being able to support himself with his own hands, designing and making custom furniture and home goods.

Initially Alexander studied architecture getting his degree from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. Office life did not suit him so he went on to pursue a much different life of prayer and service to the poor as a Franciscan Friar with the CFRs. This too would not be the place to stay.

Woodworking has brought together his design background and pursuit of a simple spiritual life. Along the way he has worked for Nakashima WoodworkerShota Yamaguchi DesignFox Furniture, and Louis Fry Furniture. He graduated from the comprehensive program at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in 2019.
