Welcome.
Hi, I’m Alexander Lohn. I founded Alessandro & Maria Design in 2019 with the desire to create meaningful, lasting objects by hand.
After earning a degree in architecture from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, I realized that office life wasn’t for me. I followed a call to prayer and service as a Franciscan friar with the CFRs, before ultimately returning to the hands-on design work that had always drawn me.
Woodworking brings together both sides of my life: a background in design and a pursuit of simplicity and meaning. Along the way, I’ve trained at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship and worked with Nakashima Woodworker, Shota Yamaguchi Design, Fox Furniture, and Louis Fry Furniture.
Today, my focus is on creating one-of-a-kind furniture that reflects both lasting quality and timeless design.
